What changed: Shopify POS now lets store staff run cycle and full stock counts directly in POS by scanning barcodes or entering quantities manually, while users with permission create, schedule, and review counts in Shopify Admin before approving the resulting inventory adjustments.

Who is affected

Merchants using Shopify POS Pro and running Shopify POS version 11.16 or later.

What it means for your business

For businesses using Shopify POS, this means staff can count inventory on the sales floor with a barcode scanner or manual entry instead of a separate system, then have Admin review and approve the count before stock levels change.

What to do

Update Shopify POS to version 11.16 or later, confirm your POS Pro subscription, create and schedule counts in Shopify Admin by selecting the location and products, then review and approve completed counts submitted from POS.

When it takes effect

The source gives no separate effective date; the change was published in the changelog entry dated September 28, 2026.
